Why the homeowner wanted to remodel:
The kitchen had a small island but not large enough for the family to cook and eat in the kitchen all together. With growing kids and lots of homework, they needed a kitchen that would be more functional. In addition, the homeowner wanted a better flow of traffic in the kitchen with ideally an open area to the dining room.
What we did:
We brought our architect out and reviewed structure, making a plan to open a doorway on a cantilever wall for a two story home. This allowed us to open the space between the kitchen and the dining room. Our team designed a kitchen that removed the corner drywall pantry and gave a large cabinet pantry with pull out shelves. We moved the refrigerator and added a large peninsula. The large peninsula provided additional storage on the back, a relocation of the microwave to give a beautiful hood and seating for the entire family.
What elevated the kitchen space was a large custom hood, taking the cabinets to the ceiling with crown and the gorgeous marble evening star backsplash tile that we took around the window.
Since the homeowner is an avid coffee drinker, we installed an appliance garage with a tray and outlet for coffee storage.
